These terms apply to anyone who uses VeriStay's website or the VeriStay app. By using them, you agree to these terms. If you use VeriStay for a jurisdiction (a city, town or county), you also agree on its behalf, so make sure you're allowed to.
Your organization's agreement comes first
Most jurisdictions have a signed agreement with VeriStay. Where that agreement and these terms differ, the agreement applies. These terms cover anything it doesn't.
Accounts
- Accounts are for the people a jurisdiction or VeriStay authorizes. Don't share your password or API key, and don't let anyone else use your account.
- You're responsible for what's done with your account. Tell us straight away at [email protected] if you think someone else has used it.
- An account sees only the jurisdictions it's assigned to. Don't try to get at other jurisdictions' information.
Using VeriStay properly
Use VeriStay only for your jurisdiction's lawful work on short-term rental registration and compliance. Don't:
- use information from VeriStay to harass anyone, or for anything other than that work;
- share records, reports or evidence beyond the people who need them, except as your jurisdiction's own rules and the law allow;
- try to get around security, probe for weaknesses (see reporting a security problem), or copy, scrape or reverse-engineer the app;
- overload VeriStay, including through the API, or use it to send spam.
We may suspend an account that breaks these rules or puts other users or information at risk, and we'll tell the jurisdiction concerned.
Whose information is whose
- Your jurisdiction's information (its registration and property records, and the results and evidence we produce for it) belongs to the jurisdiction. We use it only to provide our service to that jurisdiction, as described in our privacy policy.
- VeriStay itself (the software, its design and our website content, including published research) belongs to VeriStay. You may use it as part of the service, but not copy or resell it.
Identifications and enforcement
We identify rentals carefully: each address is backed by documented evidence and reviewed before it's marked as verified. Even so, rental sites hide or move listing locations, and records can be out of date, so we can't guarantee every identification or license match is correct.
VeriStay provides information. Decisions about enforcement, letters, fines and anything else that affects a property owner are the jurisdiction's, and should be made after reviewing the evidence and following its own procedures.
Availability
We work to keep VeriStay running and your information safe, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may need to pause it for maintenance, and we'll try to give notice when we can.
Limits on liability
To the extent the law allows, VeriStay is provided "as is". We aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for decisions made using information from VeriStay. Unless your organization's agreement says otherwise, our total liability is limited to the amount your organization paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Ending
A jurisdiction can stop using VeriStay as its agreement allows. When it does, we'll return or delete its information on request, and close its accounts.
Changes
We may update these terms. When we do, we'll change the date at the top of this page and tell account holders about significant changes. Continuing to use VeriStay after a change means you accept it.
